I assume you are selling meat or produce. Been there, done that. Each box or case is recorded in your system with its own weight, and you ship by the case, but bill by the pound. You say there is no UPC, yet you somehow converted the PO UPC to a sku that you shipped to the customer. So you inventory by weight, you bill by weight, but the customer wants UPC for his receiving and inventory management.
I ran into this with a case (not random weight) system where a customer wanted the same qualifier and code that he used to order to be returned on the ASN and Invoice, and they didn’t match what we used for inventory. (Heck, sometimes they used two different codes to order on two different lines in the same PO, and it was the same product.) No problem, I stored the qualifier and code with the PO line, the application passed them on to the ASN and Invoice, and I mapped it to the 856 and 810. Is there something that would keep you from doing likewise? (BTW, this doesn’t work if the order is entered using non-EDI methods.)
