reporting them individually on the ASN? Where and when are the carton numbers
created? In the ERP or is there an integrated or separate labeling system?

It doesn't 'really' matter, but it's more of a management issue.

It's not a problem on the ASN if the cartons skip a few numbers.

Suppose they want to reprint a range of labels?
They can't just use a from/to carton number. They will need the Shipment
number also.

The EDI system generates the cartons and labels since their ERP (Navision)
doesn't know anything about cartons.

It's just an issue I'm asking myself (and you) for my next rewrite ;-)
