Yes logging a case with support is the first thing I did. The sum total of their response is that I can't update a code table - something I knew already and in fact mentioned when I logged the case. Apparently there is an enhancement request for this, to your point about me not being the first. I won't hold my breath.
You folks are a better resource when support lets me down. I get fascinating ideas! In fact Jason's idea about the internal mapper codelist just might be the winner for simplicity. I thought that went away when the mapper diverged from Gentran: server but there seems to be something there I might be able to use.
