I will second that. It is a clever idea of Art's, because very often you 
can use a minor modification to an existing map to create the EDI, and 
the EDI side of the map to convert to their format will again often be a 
slight modification of an existing one.

We sometimes do this to generate XML, because the mapping effort in some 
cases is less than that needed to map directly from the client interface 
file format. It sounds crazy, but that is the way it is.
