I think there are actually many different front ends to git. (gitk, cola, Xcode, Visual Studio, easygit, tortoisegit, github's mac gui...) And let's not give svn more credit than it is due. I think there are probably just as many alternative front ends for svn. svn may have more consistent options, but simple operations like 'svn log' are just too slow to be useful.
