The 3rd option: If you want, you can create OVMF version BootScript module and 
S3Resume module.
It does not need to depend on LockBox.

Thanks for the pointer anyway, I'll look into this soon. If we can indeed 
eliminate SMM, then it would be preferable to have wasted only my time on SMM, 
not everyone else's too.
