Good point. I hadn't thought about that yet. Jordan Justen just pointed me
out to a PEI driver under MdeModulePkg/Universal/Disk (CdExpressPei) for
firmware recovery and it doesn't seem to be something mandatory for UEFI
firmware (I think). Therefore, I start thinking a bit more that this is
probably our way out.
