I'm not sure I quite understand what you seek. However, the expected
value of a variable is the center of gravity of the variable; would a
graphical representation of balance beams (of various shapes) be helpful?
You could show both symmetric and asymmetric distributions, and empirical
distributions as well as theoretical ones; and you could show the c.g.
in two dimensions (for bivariate distributions) as well as univariate.
