 I've tried searching the archives, but the search engine is driving
 me nuts. I told it to search for medical statistics book and it gave
 me just about every posting on the planet. I tried putting the
 keyword "and" in there, and that didn't work; it just simply looked
 for any posting with the word "and". If anybody knows how I can
 search the archives and enforce and "and" condition, please let me
 know.
======
Which archives?

Keep in mind that the mail-list is also sci.stat.edu,
and google is a fine search engine.

Here is what I tried:
groups.google.com;
Advanced search;
"include all the words"          <medical statistics book > ;
groups to search         sci.stat.*
I did not place a limit by dates.

Here is what I got:
191 hits in all, and the first few dozen seem germane
to the general request for books.

The first hit was your message (Oct 9).
The second and third hits were both from the same thread,
the one from August 27, 28, that you were looking for.
