Hello -

I am writing for some career information, and hopefully some advice!

I would like to become a statistics professor at a community college
or junior college. Right now, I am planning to apply to get a
Master's in statistics (with an undergrad degree unrelated to either
math or teaching, and a few years of experience in unrelated office
environments) after taking some math classes. I don't really want to
get a PhD, but I know that I totally loved the stats classes I took (3
semesters, and a semester of econometrics), and I even had the
opportunity to act as a teaching assistant, which was one of the best
experiences I had as an undergrad.

My questions are:

1) Do you have recommendations for programs that have an emphasis on
teaching or how I could find this information?

2) Do you have any advice about this as a field - is it so narrow to
render finding a job too hard? Do professors at colleges like this
specialize in one field, or will I likely be required to also teach
other math classes?

Thank you for any help you can offer!
Jim
