I have one data point for you: At Tompkins Cortland Community 
College (near Ithaca and Cortland, New York), math profs all teach 
several different subjects. I'd expect it's similar at most 
community colleges, because most would not have dozens of math 
profs.

As far as educational level, a master's is pretty much required but 
a doctorate isn't.
