I think the idea of survey is a good one, if nothing of that sort has already
been done.

Just a side note, maybe it's time for the WMF education team to conduct a
survey to find out what the worldwide education community currently needs from
you the most. WMF has an expert team from within the community - "education
collaborative" - which are well positioned to work together with the WMF
education employees in formulating strategy and annual plans. What do you
think? Good/bad idea?

Happy (Gregorian) New Year!
I hope you all had a great start to 2017, and I hope you enjoyed the stories
that were released in December. They were very interesting and insightful!
To briefly comment on the response to the December newsletter release, I have
received your comments and inputs with high regard, and have learned a lot
about you in the process.
As Tighe mentioned, we are presently having a conversation about a new
direction for the newsletter this year. I have moved the conversation here.
All of the volunteers working with us are valuable, appreciated, and part of an
extraordinary community. I know that together we can achieve great things, so
let's all work towards making 2017 a remarkable year for the Wikipedia
Education Program!
warmest regards,
Nichole

of this we had discussion with some teachers to adapt Edut program for next

his undergraduate students in the past term but he was not aware of program.

Hi Romaine,
Yes, it is a good idea to document the publication process step-by-step.
The education newsletter team has done so here:
https://outreach.wikimedia.org /wiki/Education/News/Publicati on_Guidelines
https://outreach.wikimedia.org /wiki/Talk:Education/Newslette r/Newsroom
Hope this helps,

Hi all,
It gives me the feeling that it would be good to document the publication
process of the newsletter. We have one for This Month in GLAM and makes sure we
do not forget anything, etc. I must say I was wondering when the invitation to
write was sent, I have not seen it, but I was a bit ill so could have missed it.
But a step-by-step procedure would solve multiple issues I think.
Greetings,
Romaine

Anna I am happy that you brought this up: I was eagerly expecting a
notification on my talk page (actually I remember there used to be
cross-posting so that an educator could not miss the invitation to write!) and
I had exciting news to share... and I am also a member of the Education mailing
list and I do not recall any mention of the newsletter. That probably explains
what there were only four stories... (how were the other educators alerted
BTW?) As for the new proposed format of the newsletter, I have expressed my
opinion in the other thread.
Happy Holidays to all:-)

Dear Nichole,
Thank you for sharing the newsletter. In the past, the newsletter team, which
Sailesh linked to, has been contacted about helping to produce it. It seems
that you have produced it entirely on your own. Why this depature from previous
practice without discussion? I had no talk page notifications nor any emails.
Was this issue of newsletter copyedited prior to publication? It doesn't look
like it, based on the the page history. Also, there are translation estension
breaks all over the news page: https://outreach.wikimedia.org
/wiki/Education/News and there is a redlink on the homepage:
https://outreach.wik imedia.org/wiki/Education The community is happy to help
publish the newsletter, if you include us.
Sincerely, Anna Koval

Hello!
I am happy to announce the release of the Wikipedia Education Program's
December Newsletter. There are some great stories in this issue!
If there is anyone in the community who has the "MassMessage sender" user right
I would kindly ask your help this month to send the newsletter out via that
channel.
My best to you all as we finish out 2016!
Nichole
