okay, here is the setup:
cable modem > d-link (no dhcp server for my LAN) > switch

The dlink gets the ISP settings per dchp client (the dlink router itself=
dchp release, dchp renew button) And those settings are the ones I noted.

As you were concerned about the ip assignment (modem computer) I just tried
to get the ISP settings through dhcp in efw, but nothing. The connection
status shows the yellow bar (connecting....)  and after a while (maybe 2
minutes) the link for the red interface at the efw box is dead = no light
nothing. And I know that eth0 is the red and eth0 is my onboard nic and is
working, because with the initial setup (step 1-7 the nic is used to connect
to the LAN) and after saving the configuration the nic is swapped to the
red, as eth1 (realtek pci) is assigned automatically for the green. I had
controlled this several times at startup and in the webgui (networkstatus).
