Transparent just means it intercepts all clients as if you had entered the proxy info into IE, etc.
Once you've added www.google.com and the rest to the white list, return to the first tab named "Configuration", and click the Save button at the bottom. A green colored box should appear near the top of the page with the Apply button. Click that, and it should apply your settings. At least that's what I have to do to get it working.
