Sorry, but I disagree. This announcement is of interest to at least
some people working with EJB.
When things are changing as quickly as they are, I appreciate having
vendors send related product announcements so that I have a better
idea of who the contenders are and what they purport to offer. I also
appreciate seeing their claims analyzed and refuted and even
validated(!) by those who are struggling to get these technologies to
work. If it solves some problems or contributes positively to the
discussion, that's a benefit. And if it comes with some marketing
hype or spin, that's part of the package.
I do agree that vendor announcements should be tagged as such (the
one in question started with "ANN: " for announcement, so that's
enough to warn off those with distaste for such postings). I also
agree that such postings should be kept to an absolute minimum by the
vendors, who should realize that it's in poor taste to barrage
technical lists with too-frequent product announcements. But if that
does happen, an EJB-PRODUCT-ANNOUNCE list can be created and this
stuff filtered at the source (voluntarily?).
