Hi Manish,
I have only good new for regarding the Inprise Application Server. If you
have looked at the products fact sheet and read the whitepapers on
clustering you will already have realized that this is one of the first real
scalable solution to hit the market. Regarding performance we have used both
Web Logic and Inprise AS 4.0 within IAS outpeforming Web Logic in on all
cases and some in the very, very high percentage ranges (16 times faster).
Unlike other solutions IAS 4.0 is built ontop of the best CORBA
implementation out there Visibroker 4.0 . The JBuilder 3.5 for Solaris
integration with IAS 4.0 is fantastic and a joy to use. I have complained
countless times to Web Logic on their real lack of tool support and the
instability of the their console and deployment wizard. Inprise's
Application Server has great management support and is something it was
built for not just something added on like web logics recent introduction of
snmp to their beta product. I have just recently finished a project in AUCS
Communications Services where I built a Least Cost Routing System with this
technology. The project has received great praise within the organization
and has lead to some developers calling me Neo or Master. But these
compliments are due inpart to my choice, a bold choice...the product was
only in alpha, in running with IAS 4.0. If you really want to see some nice
usuability features look at the CMP engine is really shines and outperforms
others. The only drawback with IAS 4.0 is that its so good that you will
hate your next contract if it is not using this tool. I could go on and on.
Maybe someone else can start of the critique so we can all join in and learn
for such a thread. I am sure IAS will win out over any criticism. I look
forward to such a discussion and unlike the Web Logic guys who hate their
app server to be called a house of card I will talk back on this list.

PS: I can send you a white paper I produced while at AUCS on the technical
success of the CORE project. To show how impressed I was I can also send you
a PDF file of our press release for Inprise/AUCS.
