Dependent objects are what CMP entity bean sans Remote and Home Interfaces.
They map to the underlying database in same way as a CMP entity bean.
The data model they represent is an extension of another entity.

For example if a Customer has different addresses for different purpose, you
will model Customer as an entity and address as a dependent Object. Exposing
address object to the client would not make any sense, since it comes in
relation with Customer. This also explains why dependent object does not
need to have any Home and Remote Interface.

A dependent Object is accessed through some other entity bean or another
dependent object. This association with another entty is called as
"Relationship" and are represented by <cmr_fields> tag in the DTD.
