The JMX equivalent for the J2EE is just in it's infancy in being designed.
I'd bet on it being looking real close to the JMX.

No, JMX is a separate specification, that isn't even part of J2EE.
I just stated the best and most standard compliant way to do the
functionality he required, and which is likely to be portable between
different servers. If you're into the whole "J2EE or nothing" mindset,
then it is not for you.
