I had a similar problem, and found that I had removed the polarizing filter
from the LCD thinking that it was protective film!  The hint to this is that
when you switch on and look very carefully, you will see very faint
characters on the LCD module.

Check that you have soldered all the pins for the socket of U1, the  LCD  
driver on the Front Panel Board. I missed soldering pin #1 on this and  the 
result was no display also.
 
A real problem to cure that mistake!
 
Another item to check could be the LCD display itself. Mine was too short
in 
the device pins so had to solder on the top side (front) of the board as  
noted in the K2 manual. There is a chance that the LCD display soldering
will be  
ineffective if soldered on the underside.
 
No doubt other suggestions will come your way on what to check.
