Not everyone has a computer in the shack or, if they do, a computer connected to the internet. So.... those people usually download the firmware to a memory stick and transfer that to the machine they can connect to the K3.
The FTP site isn't very clear about which files apply, so just download them all (ignoring the folders) to your stick and the Utility will sort it out.
