This is just a guess,
Occasionally on this list and others, some of the guys have mentioned a
series of power transistors (Motorola comes to mind, but I'm not sure). The
web site looks very inviting for those interested in QRO and a short
discussion inevitably ensues. Also inevitably, some of the guys who have
tried building these things warn about the absolutely terrible customer
service problems they've experienced while trying to build one of these
amps, and that sort of puts a damper on the whole thread.
So, just as a guess, what we have is an interesting possibility for what
looks like might be a good an amp, but with lousy customer service. And
Elecraft, whose logo you see in the dictionary when you look up "Customer
Service".
So my guess is that the Aptos connection has found something with pretty
good potential and will add their word class customer service and have a
pretty good amplifier.
As for the price---where did these numbers come from anyway?
