When the bands are noisy (common with my vertical) I have to reduce the
filter width to 0.7 to keep the noise level down when calling CQ. On
occasions I have discovered later I have missed a return call just outside
the passband.

I now find this works for me.
I set up my 'CQ Callsign K' sequence in a memory. Set the filter to 0.7 and
turn on the RIT. I recall the memory and hold for repeat with a gap of 6
seconds. In the gaps when I listen for the return calls I rotate the RIT
from side to side and listen for return calls.

Although the dial is showing 'rpt', the RIT is working and this enables
signals about 900Hz either side of my calling freq (600rit + 1/2 filter
width) to be heard.
