Hello Mike, WA1SEO This is WA3WSJ and yes I have first hand knowledge about turning the frequency knob out of band. The first year I had my K2 I took it for use at Field Day. After going to sleep, I awoke to a K2 with 20m, 15m and 40m dead? I checked a bunch of things, but couldn't find a problem. Then I started tuning with the knob and found the same thing you just found out. Yes, you can tune to another band without switching bands the proper way and have the K2 receiver useless. I took me about a half hour to figure that one out!
