I suspect there's a larger market there than you might think, at that price. TenTec RX-340 runs a bit over US$ 4K. NRD 545 (discontinued) go on the used market for $1.3K.
Both of those receivers are much larger physically than the K3, so there may be some resistance in paying more per cubic inch for a K3. Also, these receiver tune down to 30 KHz or lower, so a built in up-converter for the K3/0, along the lines of the the 2 meter down converter, might be required as an option.
