The  URL itself gives him away as a spammer. ".ly" is the internet country code 
for Libya, and the other one he used, ".mp," is from the Northern Marianas 
Islands. Emails from unknown parties from such obscure entities are a huge 
warning flag.  The Nigerian Scam doesn't live oonlly in Nigeria. 

You can check out any country code in a URL by going to:

http://www.bitmedia.com/cc/url1.htm#m

(and I guarantee that's a legit URL)
