There is a warning about that sort of thing in the manual on page 20 - 
Section on Line Out.

The audio increases substantially when you turn the AGC off, and you are 
likely to drive the transformers into high distortion levels.  This was 
discussed at length early in the life of the K3 - see the archives for 
more information.
