Jorge, That does sound like N1MM is changing the data submode for you. From the K3 Programmer's Reference, the DT command will set the DATA sub-mode (if the K3 is already in DATA mode). The MD command will set the K3 mode. MD6; would set DATA mode, and then DT2; would set FSK D.
