Anyone with any knowledge of high school math will see numbers on a number line increasing as you go left to right. I don't think that is cultural in the language of mathematics.
As for putting filters in the wrong spot: RTFM. At some point it should be the builder's responsibility. I think Elecraft has done their part in this area.
