I hate when this happens - sort of.
After tearing the K3 down I pulled the sub receiver and double checked
everything. While at it I decided to move the filter locations in the sub to
match the main receiver. I didn't bother to do that last week. Main has 6khz
installed, sub does not - so the sub now has a blank in the second slot with
all
others matching.
Reinstalled everything, triple checking and reading instructions over and over.
Once installed, same symptoms. Really frustrating.
Put a call into the mother ship (Elecraft tech support) and while waiting for
the return call, pulled up the K3 Utility and reset the filter locations in the
menu. Voila! Sub receiver now works like new.
Not complaining but running the utility and ONLY resetting the filter locations
should not have fixed anything, IMO. And maybe it didn't - that's the rub.

Thanks for the responses, I checked all the tips and appreciate the combined
expertise this list always offers up.

Jack,

Check the antenna connection - a small coax cable connector - at the rear of
the
2nd receiver. If that's OK, be sure you have assigned a useable antenna to the
2nd receiver.
