Thanks, Byron, but I have already done this. No joy. The 1920x1080 is a 16:9
mode, so no cropping or stretching should be applied by the monitor.

Hi,

I would suggest checking your monitors settings to make sure it is not
in a "full" compatibility mode (the names seem to change.  It might be
different for your monitor).  That is, the monitor can expand a 4x3
image to fit the 16x9 HD image vertically and thus chop off parts of
the image on the sides and eliminate the "black bar" problem.
