Start with the TX audio equalizer set flat.  That is all 8 bands set to zero.  
The HC5 already has the necessary equalization built in.  If you want to use a 
full range element like the iC or the HC 6, try the following:
1  -16
2  -16
3  -12
4  -2
5  -2
6 +2
7 +4
8  +6

The Heil website has a paper on K3 audio.
