Is yours a factory build or kit? Mine's a kit and I while building it, the full-turn spacing for the inside nut for the VFO encoder was a bit far for mine to make contact. I noticed that while adjusting the VFO, that it would sometime wander even though I hadn't touched it. In my case, I think there was just a bit of play in the VFO and once I had it properly seated and making clean contact the drifting disappeared.
Also does it do it after the radio has been on for a while, or only after freshly powered up? Even with a bit of play in my VFO, the wandering would disappear after a few minutes of being powered on. (note my KX3 no longer exhibits this behavior at all once I got my VFO issues sorted out). ./ben W6MCM On Wed, May 23, 2012 at 6:58 PM, Robert Galambos <[email protected]> wrote: > 1) i was trying to set up a dipole antenna to get my first QSO. i was on > 40 m and as i was tinkering with my head ]phones > i noticed that i had a 0.1 drift on the LCD readout VFOA. the readout > had dropped by that much.. in fact it did more then once. i would tune > to a freq, and then listen (not touching anything) and without any other > change it would drift by itself??? > > 2) another item. i removed all wires etc from the radio, and found that > there was a lot of noise. even my buddy, who has been a ham for many > years wondered what was happening. and what is happening. > > thought i would ask the gurus here if they know what is going on? > > > > > > ______________________________________________________________ > Elecraft mailing list > Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft > Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm > Post: mailto:[email protected] > > This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net > Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html > ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[email protected] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
