Hi Mike,

If you look on your external display at the very bottom of the screen you
should see a blue status bar. On the left it will show either rx or TX
based on whether the K3 is transmitting or not. On the right there will be
a small asterisk if the SVGA card detects a valid USB keyboard (Apple
keyboards appear to not work) . If you see the asterisk, you should be able
to type characters and they will show up in the Tx window which is the data
window shown underneath the Rx window. Another way to check is hold down
Ctrl-Alt-H and see if you see the help screen.

Regarding BIOS keyboard etc. The USB stack we are using makes mention of
the requirement for IBM PC compatible keyboards. During my initial testing
I was able to find that all the PC USB keyboards we have in house work fine.
Since these keyboards are relatively inexpensive, I would suggest simply
buying one.

If you're still running into problems getting the transmit to work, give me
a call at Elecraft.

73,

Paul
