Kieth, Actually APP connectors do not "loosen up over time". They provide positive contact over many, many, many connections/disconnections. If the plating on the connector blades is still intact, that is not your problem.
However, many seem to have trouble assembling APP connectors correctly. I am currently sensitized to this problem because I have repaired 2 KPA100s in the past week which had this exact problem - the blades of the connectors were not securely latched over the spring fingers of the housing. If your APP connector is loose and the cable "falls out", you can be certain that it is not assembled correctly. The blades of the contacts must latch over the ends of the spring fingers in the housings. See page 37, figure 29 in the XV transverter Assembly manual - http://www.elecraft.com/manual/Assembly%20Manual%20XV50,144,%20222%20Rev%20D.pdf 73, Don W3FPR On 7/28/2012 11:10 PM, Keith Heimbold wrote: > Don, > > I am now starting to think that it is an issue with my power connectors that > I am using. > > I bought some additional ferrites and put the balun design 1113u in line to > take care of RFI but i know believe that the power connectors are a little > intermittent at times.
