Hi Paul:

Another strategy would be to use a Wireman 1171 BNC-F to UHF-M connector and a Wireman 801 dipole center. (Using a pair of Wireman 800 thimbles with the 801 is highly recommended.)

That configuration plus a bit of weatherproofing (extensively discussed by this group in the past) of the connectors will give you an antenna that will last for years.

 Hi Paul,
Go to the wireman at : http://thewireman.com/connpix6.html
Chasis connectors 1342 or 1343 are what I use. This can be connected thru a
hole in your center insulator such as a piece of plexiglass or a PVC
fitting.

Radio Shack has it as 278-105.

Why don't you make the dipole 66 feet long (40 meters)? With a center pole
you can use it as an inverted vee.

Steve

Subject: [Elecraft] BNC Special Connector

I am wondering if there is such a BNC connector that you can use for a
center conductor on a dipole. I have a 50ft length of RG8X that has BNC
connectors on either end. Of course i could cut one connector off and just
solder the coax to the antenna but before i do that thought I would check.

What I am trying to do is make up a 44' Dipole and feed it with coax for
portable work when I go to a park, etc.
