There is no "link" involved.

So WinWarbler must do something like an A>B without you knowing it.

Winwarbler/Commander is not doing *anything* other than passing the
commands I specify.

It's in the programmer's manual.  In addition to shifting between phone
and other modes, failure to use IS is particularly apparent when jumping
between DATA A and FSK D.
