ALERT --
For those owners of new K2s thinking of ordering a non-stock knob.
Be aware that there are now 2 different encoder shaft sizes. The older encoder is no longer available. The Yaesu knobs fit on the old shaft, but those K2s that have the new encoder (black cube-like body fitted with an auxiliary board) have a shaft that is slightly larger than the old one. The new encoder is the same one used in the K3, so obviously the K3 knob will fit, but its diameter may be too large and will likely require stacked felt washers to provide a bit of drag. I have not tried the K3 knob on a new K2.

Bottom line - make sure the knob you purchase will fit your encoder shaft before putting down $$$ for a custom knob for the K2.

Hi Jean,

Measured at 37mm for a knob from a vintage 2000 K2 #1400. So, two measured at 37mm and one suggestion of 1.6 inches (40.64mm). Any advance, going once, twice......

A popular replacement in the early years was the knob from a Yaesu FT100. Nice rubber ring on it and a not too useful finger dimple. So many FT100 knobs ordered that apparently Yaesu thought there was a quality control problem.
