Yeah....I have the FT100 knob on my K2.....when I called Yaesu in Calif. (circa
2001)  and was connected to the parts dept. I told the man I wanted a FT100
main vfo knob......he asked me what serial number was my K2, so there was
apparently a big demand at that time. Several years later I heard that they
were sold out and since the FT100 was out of production they wouldn't be
getting more. I really like mine.......gave away the stock knob to someone who
was asking on the reflector,  if anyone had a spare....he wanted to experiment
with to machine a slot for a rubber ring and make a dimple, etc. Never heard
how he made out.

Subject: Re: [Elecraft] K2 VFO dial

Hi Jean,

Measured at 37mm for a knob from a vintage 2000 K2 #1400.  So, two
measured at 37mm and one suggestion of 1.6 inches (40.64mm).  Any
advance, going once, twice......

A popular replacement in the early years was the knob from a Yaesu
FT100.  Nice rubber ring on it and a not too useful finger dimple.  So
many FT100 knobs ordered that apparently Yaesu thought there was a
quality control problem.

Regards,
