Another feature to look for in remote power switches is what mine calls "Auto-ping." You set up the switch to ping a remote, highly reliable server - Google and others operate servers used for this purpose. If a ping fails to respond, the switch counts failures until a user-set number that suggests the network is down. At that point it cycles power on a designated outlet. Here, the DSL modem/router is connected to that outlet. This reboots the modem/router and gives you a "fresh" networking environment, even when things have gone so bad that you can't talk to the switch, your station, etc. These remote power switches are great! There are many on the market. Mine is from Digital Loggers at webpowerswitch.com.
