I have had success using an End-fedz multi-band antenna for 40 and 20. The same concept would work to add 30 meters as well. The End-fedz uses a stub to achieve resonance on 20 and the full length for 40. Another stub for 30 should work just fine. They are made and sold by PAR Electronics <http://www.parelectronics.com/end-fedz.php>

I use on regularly on 17 meters and its performance is indistinguishable from a dipole. PAR Electronics also sells a 3 band model for 40, 20 & 10. They are well made and reasonably priced.

I bought a bunch of big toroids and I intend to see if I can make some that will handle the output from the KPA500. That will be a summer project.

Of course, you can build you own for peanuts if you have a suitable toroid and some wire.

I would like to find a 40/30/20 meter end-fed dipole I can run with my KX1 and its tuner. (I'm not crazy about linked dipoles for a number of reasons.)

I have an excellent design for an end-fed SINGLE BAND half-wave dipole, but I can't think of a good way to do it for multiple bands. See the slides near the end of my talk on elevating vertical antennas at http://k9yc.com/publish.htm You can build it for about $15 for QRP. To handle 100W, you'll need a bigger ferrite core for the choke that will raise the cost by about $10.

You can go to the hardware or electrical supply store and buy a spool of wire, toss a length of it into a tree or tie it to something on your house, toss another length into another tree or something on your garage, and load that as an antenna. The tuners in Elecraft rigs will match antennas like that very well.

Are you familiar with any end-fed design that will handle all three bands well?

No.

For instance, does anyone have any experience with the EndFed 40-6m Antenna from W1SFR? http://kx3helper.com/endfed-40-6m-antenna/

This is what we call back home in WV where I grew up "a pig in a poke." There's nothing on this webpage except testimonials from new hams who appear to be technically illiterate. When someone tries to sell you something without telling you what it is, run like hell in the other direction.
