I believe that when you see $999 as the shipping cost, you have failed to select a shipping method.
That particular trigger pointed out to me, an error I made in my shipping selections... I corrected it, and all was well... I decided to not take UPS ground, because of the stated possible 7 day transit time. Elecraft delivered my package at 6 PM on Friday night to UPS, provided me a tracking number, and it arrived on Tuesday, or Wednesday, so they made it in the stated 3 days.
