Hi Guys, The CRT will be replaced as soon as my bank balance recovers from Christmas. I have managed to eliminate all cat5 cables except for the one between the modem and the wireless router, and I moved that to the farthest point in my house. I think I will replace that last one with a shielded one since it needs to be only a foot long. A high gain antenna in that corner provides maximum signal strength throughout the house and a block in every direction outside. Good thing you can encrypt your broadcast.
As to the wall warts and power strips, short of buying fat toroids, I just threw the offenders away. Oddly, about half the wall warts and half the power strips were really bad, the rest were OK - couldn't find any commonality among either the good or the bad. I built a distribution box for everything that needed 12 V and power it from my Astron 35. None of the remaining interferences are really bad. The interference from the CRT is mostly just a trashy sound and I can copy through it. Many of the remaining hetrodynes are below S2. Some probably come from the computer and I'm sure some are from the K2, itself. Tom -----Original Message----- From: Tom [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Hi Tom 2 remarks: 1 If you are still using a CRT-screen for the PC than change it as soon as possible for a TFT-screen. QRM of a conventional CRT-screen is enormous. 2 Please check on your (remaining) CAT5 cables; for ham-radio use they should be shielded. They cost a few cents more, but they realy add by eliminating unwanted radiation. 72/73 HNY Tom PC5D K2/100 SN 2709 ----- Original Message ----- From: "tom.w3qs" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Good Morning Group, > > A lot has been written about interference from Ethernets, and I would like > to share my latest experiences. > As of this morning, the 269 hetrodynes was down to 78, with 52 of those > positively attributable to the CRT monitor.
