After talking with Elecraft technical support, I learned that common causes for this problem are poor solder connections on the LCD Driver IC or the LCD itself. Elecraft is sending me a new Display board under Warranty Exchange. At times like these it is reassuring to have such good technical support from Elecraft. One reason I continue to choose products from Elecraft.
