Having thought about this a bit more since my previous reply, it seems to me that you have just clicked on a DX Spot, and the station isn't quite on frequency, you would want to zero beat both transmit and receive frequencies to the other station, *then* use either RIT or split to fine tune the receive frequency if necessary.
