I have and use the Koss SB-40. I get great audio reports.
Yes, I agree, if the mike is not positioned correctly and the TX EQ not
set correctly, it can sound bad. So can any other mike where good mike
technique and application is not correctly used.

I would not get the Koss SB-40. That looks like the Yamaha, but has a dynamic
mic that has gotten some bad reports.
A while back, I took a close look at the mic plug on my Yamaha CM-500 headset.
It is labeled “Koss”.
