Hi Rich, I didn’t realize that the MAIN:MIC+LIN setting is disabled in data modes. Right now, with the radio in Data mode, AFSK-A, Mic Sel is set to LInE In, and Mic+LIN is flagged not APPL.
Commander is running and interfaces perfectly with the radio. The RTTY sub-mode box is (and has been) set to AFSK. When I press the TX button in the General tab, or on the Commander application’s main interface the radio switches into transmit, and ditto RX with the RX button. Commander is working fine. I am not using any form of hardware PTT now. Everything is using just the USB port on the K3s. The issue is definitely within WinWarbler in my estimation. I posted this to a relevant thread on the DX Labs reflector, but the upshot is that WinWarbler is forcing the radio into LSB (voice) mode, and does not appear to even try to use DATA mode/AFSK-A within the K3s, and the TX/RX switching in RTTY mode doesn’t work. It DOES work in CW and SSB and both those send macros just fine. With WinWarbler shut down I can manually go select DATA mode on the K3s and it seems to receive fine (can’t test it out because there hasn’t been a real live RTTY signal all day). As soon as I bring WW back up, and select the RTTY mode radio button, the K3s drops into LSB mode. Something I just did notice now, however. On commander, in the mode selection box, if I hit RTTY, the K3s DOES go into AFSK-A RTTY mode, and the TX/RX buttons work (no tones sent, just asserting PTT and that’s it). On the General tab of the WinWarbler config panel I have selected RTTY Transceiver mode for RTTY operating mode but so far no joy. I’m guessing DATA-L and DATA-U are not for RTTY operation in that case. I will try shutting down DX Lab Suite, rebooting the PC, and see if that helps. - pjd From: Richard Ferch <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, March 20, 2019 8:49 AM To: Peter Dougherty <[email protected]> Cc: [email protected] Subject: Re: [Elecraft] Sending AFSK RTTY First, in Data modes, do *not* set MAIN:MIC+LIN to ON. As Joe has explained, you need to set MAIN:MIC+LIN to OFF and MAIN:MIC SEL to LINE. When you are using WinWarbler, all radio control functions are handled by Commander. Commander must be running, and must be interfaced with the radio. The RTTY sub-mode selector is on the General tab of Coimmander's Config window (upper right quadrant). If you don't see it, Commander is not communicating with the radio, and you need to correct that first. Unless you are using a hardware PTT method on a separate COM port from rig control, PTT is also handled by Commander (that is what the Xcvr Ctrl App setting in the WinWarbler configuration means). The PTT buttons on the main Commander window need to be working; if they don't switch the radio into and out of transmit, you need to fix that, otherwise WinWarbler will be unable to control PTT via Commander. 73, Rich VE3KI On Wed, Mar 20, 2019 at 12:12 AM Peter Dougherty <[email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> > wrote: Hi Rich/all, Well I managed to find the thing that was really messing me up overall, but I'm still having massive RTTY issues. What had been happening was no AFSK tones for RTTY were getting through, and no voice files for SSB. The key (as I think you mentioned on the N1MM reflector) was the MENU: MIC+LIN setting on the K3s. Once I set that to ON I got voice files. But there's literally nothing I can do to get out of LSB voice mode when WinWarbler is in RTTY mode. Right now, on the RTTY tab, in the Modulation and Transceiver Mode section I have AFSK with the LSB button ticked. I've tried both RTTY mode and DATA-L, which Joe suggested. As I switch WinWarbler between CW, SSB, and RTTY, when I get to RTTY the radio is placed into LSB (voice) mode, not DATA-A, which is the desired result. There is no PTT either, the radio just stays in LSB receive. There is no RTTY SUB MODE setting on the General tab. I guess Dave removed it after your wrote the wiki; however I changed the DATA-L to RTTY. No change. Since the Elecraft portion of this setup has been solved (Mic+LIN), the rest is related to DX Labs, so I'm going to take this last bit of setup to their groups.io <http://groups.io> forum to conserve bandwidth on this reflector. - pjd -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> <[email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> > On Behalf Of Richard Ferch Sent: Tuesday, March 19, 2019 10:27 PM To: [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> Subject: Re: [Elecraft] Sending AFSK RTTY <http://www.dxlabsuite.com/dxlabwiki/K3PSKRTTY>. 73, Rich VE3KI ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[email protected] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
