I have 2 of them, but I think that they are too bright for close work. Great for getting to and fro. Great for macro work at a campsite. The ones I have are not dimmable. I also have some by Princeton (I think). The are very nice (white), but not dimmable. I think that I will pick up one of these, too, because they are dimmable. I'd want it to come on dim each time, and these can. They also can come on bright immediately. Not head mounted, tho. Too bad they don't make the original Night Reader, because I use it all the time. It always comes on dim, so I don't have to hold the button to set the intensity. And I have used it regularly for years. No problems. I like my Petzl and Princeton lights, too. The convenience of head mounted. The battery lasts so long on the NR that I don't mind leaving it on and letting it hang from my shirt.
