Set the "band Outputs" correctly (page 19 of the K3 Owners Manual) and
build a discrete logic (TTL/CMOS) band decoder to select PTT to the
2 meter or HF/6m amplifier.
Alternatively, get a band decoder that works on the frequency data
from CAT/RS232 (like microHAM Station Master) and allow it to select
PTT to the 2 meter on HF?6m amplifier based on the CAT data.

Nice solution.
Unfortunately for me, I am trying to operate remotely. I may just have to get
a web switch and turn the amp on and off. I am hoping that some one has a
better solution.

I have the same issue, but a less elegant solution. My 2 Meter amplifier
has a remote head that has the keying input located on the back of it. I
opened it up and wired a toggle switch in line with the circuit with an LED.
I labeled it STBY/OPR like on my Ameritron AL-1200. I just flip the 2 meter
amp "out" of the PTT circuit when I'm not using it.

Subject: [Elecraft] 2m internal transverter PTT out
Dear Elecrafters,
I have a K3 with an internal 2m transverter that I use with an external
amp. Initially I had the amp connected to PTT-out but that would key the 2m
amp if I transmitted on any band. To help with this, I put the optional
jumper on P8 in the transverter so that it put out 5v on ant3 (2m out) while
transmitting. I then built a simple NPN grounded emitter circuit to key the
2m amp by grounding its PTT-in when 5v show up on output of the transverter.
Here is the shocker: 5v show up on 2m transverter out whenever I transmit
on ANY band. How disappointing. Am I missing something? Is there a simple
fix?
