You were able to copy between the elements with the K2 at 35WPM? If so, I
wonder what is different about your K2? Serial number?
I have felt that the QSK was the one weak point of the K2. I can't hear
between elements above about 16wpm. Yet when I played with Yaesu's 1K series
I was able to hear between elements.

My suspicion is that he didn't really mean 'elements', but rather letters. No K2 of any serial number can hear between elements (dits/dahs) at 35 wpm.

The K2's QSK is much smoother and quieter than most other radios. It is, however, not particularly fast. I've made a mod to speed it up (see <http://www.qslnet.de/member/la3za/K2/modAny.html>, look for "Faster QSK Performance" ) but the best it can do is around 22 wpm. Your mileage may vary, but not up to 35 wpm!
