That seems to be the case with the Knowles HC-3. It would be great if these elements could be modified to perform better. I've been searching for a drop-in headset element that has the same sensitivity and response curve as the original Heil HC-4 / HC-5 (see below). They have great articulation and work well with rigs that don't have TX-EQ. Used HC-4/5 elements are pricey!
